A native of Fort Fairfield, Maine, Dick Curless rose to the national spotlight in 1965 with his Billboard-topping hit, A Tombstone Every Mile.
After winning the Arthur Godfrey Show and launching a nationwide tour with the Buck Owens All American Show in 1966, Curless was met with both national and international recognition.
Over the course of an extensive musical career spanning nearly five decades, Curless went on to record over 21 additional Billboard hits.

In 1967, Curless recorded “A Tombstone Every Mile.” The song was an instant success, and quickly broke the top 5 Billboard country music charts—propelling Curless to national stardom. After touring with the Buck Owens All Star Show from 1966 to 1968, Curless became an international artist. Much like at home, Curless captivated audiences from across the Atlantic, gaining recognition and applause throughout Europe.
Over the course of an experienced musical career spanning nearly five decades in length, Curless went on to record over 21 additional Billboard hits, 30+ studio albums, and receive a wide variety of musical awards from the Country Musical Hall of Fame, the Country Music Association, BMI, ASCAP, and many others.
